The idea… |
| CampusBin.com was started in 2006 by college students that were pissed off at textbook prices. Coming home from the monopolizing book store after spending $400 on three books we decided to start a student trading site at our university. It worked out great, so we determined to go national and while comparing student posts, we would offer online book store comparisons. Essentially, the centralization of competition will drive down prices! |
|
What we offer… |
|
We offer everyone a simple and quick way of comparing book prices from dozens of affiliates. Our main goal is to drive down prices while centralizing the competition. By centralizing the competition, you don't have to go to twenty different web sites to find the lowest overall price, thus, you are saving time and money! Also, to protect your privacy, aside from our online security techs, we offer a private messaging system. You can now browse posts and talk to other students at your school in a private setting. You do not have to give out your number or email; you can use your messaging system. Campusbin.com is different from other stores for the main reason of us offering a student exchange service while letting students compare from online booksellers. You can post your book and organize an exchange (please read our safety tips) or you can buy from online sellers. In the end, comparison will save you money. Also, if you want to sell your book, we offer a comparison of some book-buyback companies. This way, you can get a great price for your book, pay nothing for shipping, and beat the buy-back price that your local book store offers. |

8/31/2007 - Much More than Pocket Change: Online Book Bargains Add Up - SB Statesman "Another, relatively new site, aimed at the bargain hunter crowd is Campusbin.com, slightly different from Half.com in that it allows for price comparing between available books on multiple websites. Campusbin.com, created in 2006, however, revolves around the same idea of allowing students the opportunity to buy and sell books at better rates. .... Concerning the prospect of selling one's book, Campusbin.com advertises in its "About Us" section as a site built by college students for the purpose of spending less money. The site also boasts the ability of sellers to have students from their own university as a primary target audience, potentially eliminating the cost associated with shipping. " - Suraj Rambhia |

5/8/2007 - Smart shopping can help save money on textbooks– The Louisville Cardinal “If time is limited or students want to see what multiple sites have to offer at once, CampusBin (http://www.campusbin.com) may be the place to go.
